Airport

The airport closest to the town of Cabarete is Puerto Plata airport (POP). It is located approximately 30 minutes west along the coast from Cabarete. American, Delta, United, Canadian and JetBlue airlines operate to Puerto Plata. There are other airports on the island but they are between 3.5-5 hrs away so please make sure your reservation is for the Puerto Plata airport.

Logistics

If you can’t commit to the whole time please book whatever duration of time that works for your schedule. It is easy to get a pick up/drop off at the airport any day of the week. The actual birthday dinner will take place on January 20.

Transportation to and from the airport is very easily arranged through the villa. In all likelihood most of us will arrive and depart on the same couple of flights and we can go together. Please let me know your flight information as soon as you can so that I can make sure that everyone can get safely from the airport to the villa!

There are car rental companies at the airport where you can rent a car, however for excursions and restaurant visits I will arrange transportation with the villa so unless you are planning to do some solo sightseeing, there shouldn’t be a need for a car. I will have a car for running errands and in case there is an emergency

Travel to the Dominican Republic requires an “e-ticket”. This is a digital form required for entry or exit from the Dominican Republic. Every passenger must accurately complete the information on the electronic ticket before checking in for the flight. You can fill it out up to 72 hours before the flight.
